Vuna Primary School, Taveuni Island, Fiji

The Vuna Primary School is on the Southern tip of Taveuni Island in Fiji, catering for the local village and surrounding settlements. The main source of parental income is subsistence farming and fishing, with some work available at the nearby copra plantation and a small resort.

A number of children were identified as being a priority need for support and early in 2013, the Rotary Club if Forest Hill joined forces with the Whitehorse Rotaract Club in Melbourne to adopt the school and to find sponsors for the support 21 children to go to school for the year. ABCD standard sponsorship at $250 Australia Dollars will cover the full cost of education for one child and leave a small surplus for the school to spend on additional learning materials.  The host Rotary Club is the Rotary Club of Taveuni Island, who work with us to ensure the children are attending school, provide school reports and updates, and to ensure that the sponsors funds are spent appropriately.
