A team of volunteers from the Rotary Club of Geelong Central have just arrived on the Island of South Taveuni, Fiji, to build the second new ABCD pre-school on the island. They will be joined next week by a team of students from the Deakin University Global Citizenship Program. With the help of local volunteers and the team from the Rotary Club of Taveuni Island, they hope to complete the building and finish the decoration and fit-out of the building within three weeks!
Funding for the project came from the RC Geelong Central, from Deakin University and from the students own fundraising efforts – a great team effort. The Rotarians will be staying in some local ‘basic’ accommodation and the students get to enjoy the wonderful experience of home hosting in the local village. The hospitality from the local community will no doubt be the highlight of the volunteers stay on the island.
Check out our Facebook page for further updates as the team get to work.
