The Rotary Club of Sandringham in Melbourne have taken on the Sponsor Club role for the Nasavusavu Primary School on the island of Vanua Levu in Fiji.
Vanua Levu is a big island but doesn’t have the towns and the infrastructure enjoyed by the main island Viti Levu. Savusavu is a small town in the south of the island. The school has identified around 20 children in need where the family is having extreme difficulty in paying for the children to go to school. With many families earning less than FJ$2k per year it’s pretty hard to find the FJ$400 needed to get through school for a year, especially if you have more than one child!
In the words of the head teacher Isoa Qelini, “If you can pay for just one of the children to go to school we will indeed be blessed.” Thanks heaps to those wonderful Rotarians, partners and friends at RC Sandringham for rising to the challenge. Keep coming back to this page for more updates!
